If I had prepared this chart, I would have left out the temporarily-inhabited stations, both north and south latitude, and included Longyearbyen, Svalbard, at 78N the northernmost permanent settlement.
On another note, the latitude-based density of population centers should be compared to the latitude-based cumulative distribution of land mass — I have never seen a chart of the latter.
