I don’t think that is why there is not an unlike button… Too many people paste those old time Phototoons with modern sayings. I know that when I post anything with a slight hint of a political stance people from my elementary school and distant cousins from ex-marriages will bound forth to comment with the alternative view. Can you imagine if there had an “unlike” button. People would be suicidal. However, there is already the backward thinking that if your friends actually “unlike” your post unless they click “like”. However, I think if people are that concerned about their friends “liking” their posts, they either need to stop posting or find new friends. At least for now, without the “unlike” button, it will remain reasonably difficult for random posts with Bitstrip cartoon dipictions to be considered intentionaly extreme and outrageous behavior to raise to the level of Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress. At least we can hope it does.
I have often asked myself the same question and I have come to realize that there is no dislike button because the amount of likes you receive will be in direct relation to how it is recieved by the individuals in your so-called pool of “friends.” So in essenence the volume of likes you receive for a particular post will be sort of like positive feedback. It “speaks for itself” in a way.
