Is the future already here?

Science fiction writer William Gibson is reported to have said, “The future is already here–it’s just not very evenly distributed.” Be that as it may, check out the short videos below the fold explaining two futuristic Google projects: a fleet of self-driving cars called Waymo and a self-learning artificial intelligence program called AlphaZero:

Aside from being funded by Google (Alphabet Inc.), what else do these once-unimaginable projects have in common? Also, isn’t just a matter of time before we see the advent of high-speed and unbiased “machine judges” taking the place of human judges and human arbitrators?
