I feel fortunate to have been among those who eagerly awaited each month’s edition of “Scientific American” just to flip to the “Mathematical Games” column written by Martin Gardner, from 1956-1981. His influence on me (and many others) is immeasurable. Mr Gardner wrote about many items of this nature. I have kept a short correspondence from Mr Gardner on a mathematical puzzle as a keepsake for many years.
Mr Gardner was a national treasure!
