PSA: our mainstream media is lazy and nativist

I am interrupting my review of Klein & Clark because a category 1 hurricane (now a tropical storm) is passing through Central Florida, where I live. Although this storm hit the Bahamas yesterday (see below), I have not seen a single report in the mainstream media (national or local) about how this storm impacted our Caribbean neighbor.

  1. Craig says:

Agreed… it’s as if the Bahamas don’t even exist sometimes. Remember when they were devastated by Dorian back in 2019? Most people don’t — and have no idea where they stand in their recovery. Same thing with the French side of St. Martin, out-of-sight, out-of-mind in the U.S. One can appreciate how insular the U.S. media is when you listen to the BBC or BBC World Service news now and again.
