Scary reflection of our current political situation.
Is social media or human nature to blame?
Humans are so adaptable (e.g., how humans *respond* to the fact that news media exists, and how the media responds to the fact that humans exploit the media, and etc etc) that “human nature” must be considered a pretty fluid thing. Good taxonomy though — the top triangle is rarely visited. It’s why I liked Hitchens, he spent most of his time near the top.
Is there an “immutable core”, though?
Human nature. Social media is a catalyst.
